Bogotá Police apprehended a 14-year-old adolescent in the El Amparo neighbourhood, Kennedy locality, pursuant to a court order issued by the Seventh Juvenile Criminal Court with Guarantees Control Function, pulzo.com reported. The young man is under investigation for aggravated attempted murder.
The operation was carried out by the Basic Criminal Investigation Unit. Officers intercepted the minor on the street as he was leaving his home accompanied by his father, according to the official report from the institution.
The events that prompted the arrest warrant occurred in February of this year in that same sector of Kennedy. According to authorities, the adolescent participated in a brawl during a gathering with friends, a situation that police described as an episode of intolerance. During the altercation, the minor allegedly used a bladed weapon to attack a 32-year-old man, who sustained serious injuries.
Police stated that throughout the procedure, respect for the adolescent's rights was guaranteed, in accordance with established protocols for the judicial processing of minors. Once detained, the young man was placed at the disposal of the judicial authority that had issued the warrant.
So far in 2026, the Protection and Special Services Section has recorded 45 apprehensions of minors in Bogotá. The figure reflects authorities' concern about the participation of children and adolescents in criminal activity in the capital.
Bogotá Police reminded citizens that they can report suspicious situations or crimes through the Emergency Line 123.
