Bogotá's Metropolitan Police arrested a man accused of being responsible for the murder of a woman that occurred inside a residential property in the Kennedy district. According to noticiascaracol.com, the case came to light when a patrol from the Britalia police station, carrying out search and control operations, received a radio dispatch about an alleged fight at the property.
Upon arrival, the officers were approached by a citizen who reported that her mother had been attacked. The police entered the residence and found the woman without vital signs. Lieutenant Colonel Nilson Hernán Figueroa Coronado, garrison officer for Bogotá's Metropolitan Police, stated that the victim had a visible injury to her neck, allegedly caused by a sharp weapon.
According to information gathered by the authorities, the suspect attempted to escape following the attack by moving towards neighbouring properties and continuing his flight across the rooftops. Testimony from residents of the area allowed the officers to establish his location. The police found him on the roof of a neighbouring house and proceeded to arrest him.
"Through swift police action, we were able to locate and arrest a man accused of being responsible for the events," explained Lieutenant Colonel Figueroa.
The authorities indicated that the detainee would be the ex-partner of the victim's daughter, although this information forms part of the elements that must be verified in the course of the investigation. The man was handed over to the Office of the Attorney General of the Nation, the entity responsible for conducting judicial proceedings and determining his legal status.
The investigation must establish the exact circumstances in which the homicide occurred and the individual responsibilities of the arrested man. For now, the man is considered a suspect, and his criminal liability will be determined by the competent judicial authorities.
