Woman arrested with 105 grams of marijuana on Montería-Planeta Rica road
The National Police detained a woman at a checkpoint in Córdoba after finding marijuana in her bag. The canine Dimitrio detected the substance on a bus on the Medellín–Montería route.
Canine detects marijuana on intercity bus in Córdoba
According to policia.gov.co, officers from the Motorised Police and Environmental Protection Section captured a woman at a checkpoint located on the road connecting Planeta Rica with Montería, in the department of Córdoba.
The procedure was carried out on a public transport vehicle covering the Medellín–Montería route. During the inspection of the bus, the canine Dimitrio, trained for the detection of narcotic substances, indicated the bag of one of the passengers. Inside it was found a transparent plastic bag containing cigarettes presumed to be marijuana.
The captured woman had 105 grams of the substance seized from her. Both the detainee and the seized items were placed at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor's Office for the corresponding judicial proceedings.
Captain Marina Estrada, chief of the Motorised Police and Environmental Protection Section of the San Jerónimo de Montería Metropolitan Police, highlighted the importance of controls on road corridors and the support of canine units for detecting elements related to illegal activities.
The National Police reported that it will continue to strengthen preventive controls on the roads of the department, with the aim of guaranteeing the safety of travellers and preventing the transport of narcotics.
