Ana María Piedrahíta, 23, was killed on the night of Saturday 12 September at approximately 8:00 p.m. in the Buenos Aires district, a rural area of the municipality of Andes, near the entrance to the Cañaveral sector. At the time the first report was published, early on Sunday 13 September at around 10:00 a.m., Piedrahíta's body remained on the road awaiting the arrival of authorities to conduct a technical inspection of the scene. Local residents provided the initial information to Conexión Sur.

The organisation has insisted on the need to review the measures adopted in response to the dynamics of violence and criminality affecting the sub-region, as well as to strengthen the institutional response to the homicides recorded in different municipalities.
