Eight Venezuelans charged with murder of teacher Kevin Ángel in Kennedy, Bogotá

Teacher killed for stopping drug trafficking in Kennedy: eight charged
Eight Venezuelan nationals, suspected members of the 'Tren de Aragua', were charged in Bogotá for the murder of teacher Kevin Santiago Ángel, whose community leadership against drug consumption allegedly conflicted with the criminal group's interests in the Kennedy district. This was reported by bogota.gov.co, based on information released by the General Prosecutor's Office.
The victim promoted sporting activities with young people from southern Bogotá to prevent the use of illicit substances. According to the investigation, these actions interfered with the drug trafficking and extortion collection that the 'Tren de Aragua' operated in that area.
Kidnapping, torture and dismemberment between 20 and 22 May 2026
Evidence gathered by the Prosecutor's Office indicates that the teacher was detained and subjected to torture in a property in south-western Bogotá. He was subsequently murdered, his body was dismembered, placed in a suitcase and abandoned in the El Tintal sector.
The crime occurred between 20 and 22 May 2026. More than 80 judicial police operations, some with support from the US agency DEA, made it possible to establish the link between the attack and the leadership Ángel exercised in the community.
The alleged leader gave the order from prison
According to the Prosecutor's Office, the alleged leader of the organisation in Bogotá allegedly issued the order to commit the crime from the detention centre where he was being held. Another of those charged allegedly coordinated the execution of the murder and the subsequent disposal of the body.
The person known as alias 'Alondra' allegedly contacted the teacher from 9 May through social media, with the purpose of gaining his trust and ensuring he attended a meeting at a property in the Galán neighbourhood. Alias 'Mario Bro' provided the location, whilst alias 'Luis Panadero', who lived there, is accused of receiving 'Alondra' before the victim's arrival.
Alias 'Looney Tones', alias 'Colmillos' and alias 'Tun Tun' allegedly participated in the detention, the acts of torture and the transportation of the body.
They used the teacher's mobile phone whilst holding him
Material evidence also indicates that whilst the teacher remained in the property, 'Alondra' and 'Mario Bro' used his mobile phone to make a purchase at a commercial establishment in the area.
Charges imposed; the defendants did not accept them
A prosecutor from the Special Investigation Unit (UEI) charged them with the crimes of murder, torture, forced disappearance and criminal conspiracy, all in aggravated form, as well as concealment, alteration or destruction of material evidence. The eight defendants did not accept the charges.
