The National Police apprehended a man in Montería, Córdoba, for the alleged crime of personal injury, following an interruption of a situation of violence on a public street, according to information from policia.gov.co.
Uniformed officers on patrol were called to attend to a report in which several people were threatening to physically assault a citizen. Upon arrival at the scene, the police intervened immediately to prevent any assault.
Faced with the persistence of the conduct and non-compliance with preventive instructions, the agents employed the authorised means to control the situation and apprehend the alleged aggressor. The victim, who presented visible injuries, was transferred to a medical facility for medical evaluation.
The apprehended individual was informed of his rights and placed at the disposal of the competent authority to answer for the crime of personal injury.
Major Juan Guillermo Solórzano, commander of the Margen Izquierda Police Station, stated: "The timely reaction of our uniformed officers was decisive in protecting the integrity and preventing this situation from escalating. We make a call to citizens to resolve their differences in a peaceful manner and to respect the instructions of the uniformed officers, who are there to protect the life and integrity of the public."
The National Police urged the community to report promptly any act of violence, noting that the early calls from citizens allow uniformed officers to intervene before conflicts escalate.
