Ten months without justice: the police officer accused of killing his partner remains in uniform in Boyacá
Liliana Cruz, a 25-year-old woman, was murdered ten months ago in Boyacá. The main suspect in her death is Hamilton Ruiz Bolívar, who was the commander of the Chiscas Police and the victim's romantic partner. According to noticiasrcn.com, Ruiz Bolívar remains free and on active duty within the National Police.
Liliana's mother described the contradictory accounts she received following her daughter's death. "First he told me it had been a guerrilla member who shot my daughter. He also told my husband that he had been hit. And then he said it had been an accident, that it had been him," she recounted.
The woman also reported that the accused was suspended only a few months before being reincorporated into the institution. "He was simply suspended for one, two, three months and returned to the National Police institution to be promoted," she stated.
Noticias RCN contacted the National Police, which indicated that the removal of the officer was proceeding in the second instance. However, at the time of the report, the man continued to wear the uniform.
The family's lawyer flagged irregularities in the investigative process. "Since last November we have been filing different requests, specific petitions to exercise our rights as victims within this procedure, petitions that have been denied. We were given the status of complainants," explained the legal representative.
The representative also warned that investigators carried out a reconstruction of events based exclusively on the version of the accused, who reportedly participated directly in this proceeding ordered by the Office of the Prosecutor.
The results from the Legal Medicine institute established that Liliana Cruz died from a rifle gunshot. The family demands that a hearing be called for the charging of the crime of aggravated femicide.
The victim's mother made a direct appeal to the highest authorities of the State. "I ask the President of the Republic, I ask the judges of Colombia, the Office of the Prosecutor of Colombia, the National Police of Colombia, that please they administer justice," she said.
