The National Police confirmed that the detention was in compliance with a contempt of court order issued by a court in Cali, and was not related to a criminal investigation or the commission of a crime.
The measure is related to the documentary titled Colombia: Factory of Trans Children, published by Adrián, in which procedures and protocols regarding gender affirmation in minors are questioned. The authorities emphasised that the arguments contained in the material represent the creator's opinions and do not constitute conclusions established in the scientific or medical field.
Before travelling to Colombia, Adrián acknowledged to the press that he was aware of the existence of the judicial order against him and that he was considering the possibility of being arrested. The imposed sentence includes 10 days of arrest and a fine equivalent to 15 monthly minimum salaries, according to his own statements. Despite this, the creator entered the country and the authorities proceeded with the execution of the order.
The detention immediately generated political reactions. President Abelardo de la Espriella commented on the case and stated that the episode should open a national debate on the medical and legal procedures applied to minors. "The time has come to legislate on the limits and prohibitions of these procedures in minors," wrote De la Espriella on his X social media account. The president also questioned whether decisions of such significance should be adopted exclusively through legal protection actions, administrative protocols or jurisprudential criteria, and urged Congress of the Republic to address the matter in the legislative sphere.
For his part, Adrián denied having committed any crime and announced that he will not accept the decision without offering legal resistance. His lawyers in Mexico and Colombia will pursue legal action to defend his rights, according to the creator himself.
The contempt sanction is applied when a person fails to comply with an order issued by a judge.
