According to bogota.gov.co, Bogotá Police detained five men and two women accused of taking part in the murder of Superintendent Edilberto Pinilla, a member of the SIJIN, which occurred on 27 August 2026 in the Ciudad Bolívar locality, south of the capital.

Pinilla was carrying out investigative work related to a triple homicide recorded in the sector known as La Carbonera invasion, in the upper part of Ciudad Bolívar, when he was murdered.

The Mayor of Bogotá, Carlos Fernando Galán, confirmed the arrest and specified that five of those detained were sent to prison. The other two, identified as female heads of household, were placed under house arrest.

"Superintendent Pinilla was murdered while carrying out investigative functions into a triple homicide in Ciudad Bolívar. Thanks to the coordinated work between Bogotá Police and the District Department for Security, Coexistence and Justice, the seven individuals responsible for the murder of the uniformed officer were arrested," Galán stated through his account on the social network X.

The investigations established that those arrested acted as members of the criminal gang called 'Los de la Loma'. The Office of the Attorney General attributed to them the crimes of homicide and manufacture, trafficking, carrying or possession of firearms, accessories, parts or ammunition, and presented them before a judge of the Republic.

The detentions are part of the comprehensive security strategy Bogotá Camina Segura, promoted by the district administration.
