Taxi driver shot in Ciudad Verde: gang 'Los Satanás' claims attack in video
According to infobae.com, authorities in Soacha (Cundinamarca) are investigating whether the murder of a taxi driver on Wednesday, 30 September, was linked to an extortion network targeting drivers in the municipality. The victim, Daniel Chirino, 33 years old, was attacked while parked outside a residential complex in the Ciudad Verde neighbourhood.
Two men travelling on a motorcycle approached the vehicle. One of them got off, reached the taxi window and asked: "Listen, buddy, are you going to pay or not". Seconds later, he fired several times at Chirino. The wounds were fatal. The attacker walked back to the motorcycle and both men left the scene immediately.
The video and recorded threats
The attack was captured in a video that the suspects themselves apparently recorded. In the recording, the man who descends from the motorcycle states: "This is from 'Los Satanás'". Before reaching the window, he mentions two names—"Federico and Moisés"—and issues a warning that was documented in the images: "To everyone who pays and everyone who doesn't want to pay, we're going to take them out right away".
The audiovisual material is under analysis by the authorities. Although the suspects apparently filmed the sequence, the images do not allow the motorcycle number plate used to flee to be clearly distinguished.
The investigation and the mayor's response
Investigators are seeking to determine whether the homicide was the result of an extortion collection. In the video, the attackers allude to payments, and authorities will need to establish whether these references correspond to systematic pressure on taxi drivers in the municipality. The mention of the names "Federico and Moisés" forms part of the investigations opened following the crime.
The mayor of Soacha, Julián Sánchez Perico, ordered investigations to begin immediately and deployed the necessary actions to identify and capture the two men indicated as responsible. "I have ordered Soacha Police to immediately begin investigations and deploy the necessary actions to identify and capture the two men accused of murdering a taxi driver in Ciudad Verde", the official stated.
Sánchez Perico also asked the secretaries of Government and Mobility to convene a working meeting with representatives from the individual public transport sector, with the aim of defining measures to strengthen driver safety. "This crime cannot go unpunished", he stated in a message published on X.
The vehicle and the taxi driver's history
According to information from the newspaper El Tiempo, cited by infobae.com, Chirino drove a yellow Hyundai, 2012 model, with number plate SOR 940. The vehicle had accumulated fines of 2,821,611 pesos since 2020.
The first sanction dates from 3 June of that year: a fine of 736,012 pesos imposed in Soacha for failing to carry out the technical-mechanical inspection on time. In 2022, the Bogotá Secretary imposed an additional sanction of 368,740 pesos for driving with tinted windows without authorisation.
The records also include three fines from 15 January 2026, with a combined total of 1,716,859 pesos, for disregarding traffic signals or requests from traffic officers, driving with an expired licence and travelling through restricted areas or at restricted times. Two of those infractions included vehicle immobilisation.
The registered owner of the taxi is Leonardo Sánchez Suárez, in whose name three of the aforementioned fines are recorded. The vehicle was not affiliated with any taxi industry company, but did have valid Mandatory Traffic Accident Insurance (SOAT), issued on 13 August 2026.
The investigation will need to establish whether the attack is part of a broader extortion pattern, identify the direct perpetrators and determine whether there are other people involved in the indicated gang.
