Three 'apartment thieves' arrested in flagrante in Barrios Unidos, Bogotá
Bogotá police detained three men who robbed a house in the Simón Bolívar neighbourhood and threatened a minor with a bladed weapon.

Three men were detained in flagrante after entering a house in the Simón Bolívar neighbourhood, in the Barrios Unidos locality of Bogotá, according to pulzo.com reporting based on information confirmed by Bogotá police. The detainees allegedly forced open the access doors to the property and, inside, intimidated a minor who was alone in the property with a bladed weapon.
The identification of the three suspects was made possible thanks to the immediate analysis of security camera footage installed in the sector, provided by the affected parties themselves. The recordings showed that the clothing of the detainees matched that of the individuals captured at the moment when two of them entered and left the residence. The three were later intercepted by uniformed officers as they fled in a vehicle.
During the operation, authorities recovered a laptop computer and two mobile phones belonging to the house residents. The bladed weapon was also seized and the vehicle used by those involved was immobilised.
One of the detainees was wearing an electronic bracelet from INPEC and had an active sentence of seven years for aggravated and qualified theft. Another of the detainees had a criminal record for illegal possession of firearms, qualified and aggravated theft, and aggravated intentional personal injury.
The District Secretariat for Security, Coexistence and Justice released a video of the police procedure on the social network X, highlighting the role of citizen reports and the use of video surveillance technology in the fight against residential theft in the capital.
