Suspected killer of Ana Lucía González, girl who went missing in Mosquera, arrested

According to kienyke.com, Colombian authorities detained the man identified as the suspected perpetrator of the death of Ana Lucía González Mendoza, a nine-year-old girl who had been reported missing in Mosquera and whose body was later found inside a sewerage tunnel in Ciudad Bolívar, south of Bogotá.

The detainee was identified as José Rojas Larez, 29 years old and of Venezuelan nationality. According to Noticias Caracol, the man was close to the minor's family circle and was in a romantic relationship with one of her sisters.

The Prosecutor's Office stated that the suspect reportedly left with the girl following a dispute with "one of the victim's relatives". The criminal responsibility of the detainee is to be determined in the course of the judicial process.

A key element in advancing the investigation was the security cameras in the Porvenir Río sector in Mosquera, the area where Ana Lucía had been reported missing. The Municipality of Mosquera indicated that the video surveillance records made it possible to identify the suspect and reconstruct part of the route he allegedly took before arriving in Bogotá. Investigators from the Fontibón district collaborated in a coordinated manner with the authorities.

The arrest warrant was executed in Bogotá by officers of the Technical Investigation Body, CTI, of the Prosecutor's Office.

The detainee must appear before a judge of guarantees, who will review the legality of the procedure and the requests submitted by the prosecution. The Prosecutor's Office plans to charge him with the crimes of aggravated homicide, non-consensual sexual access with a minor under 14 years of age, and sexual acts with a minor under 14 years of age.

The organisation also specified that several reports and expert opinions are still pending within the investigation, amongst them forensic evidence that will be decisive in clarifying the exact circumstances of the death.
