The body was found on the afternoon of Thursday, 10 September in a mountainous and difficult-to-access area within the Villa Rosario phase 2 settlement in Puerto Colombia. Residents of the sector alerted authorities after hearing several gunshots. The corpse presented four bullet impacts to the head.
Initial investigations indicate that León Ortega was allegedly a member of los Porteños, a structure believed to operate criminal activities in the area. This affiliation is one of the details that investigators continue to verify to clarify the homicide.
One of the lines of investigation gaining greater credence points to an alleged breach within the criminal organisation. According to the inquiries, the victim allegedly was not turning over the accounts corresponding to income derived from drug trafficking.
The CTI and police are analysing the hypothesis of an internal settling of scores related to the handling of money from drug trafficking. However, authorities must still establish whether this situation is directly linked to the attack and determine who may have participated in it.
