The Public Prosecutor's Office in Willemstad has sought prison sentences of 22 and 19 years against two suspects in the murder of Tilburg-based artist Ruchendell Windster, known as Boechi.

Two men accused of killing Tilburg rapper Ruchendell Windster face potential sentences of 22 and 19 years respectively in prison. The prosecutors in Willemstad laid out these sentencing demands on Friday during the trial proceedings in Curaçao.
Windster, who performed under the stage name Boechi, made music in Papiamento. On 9 December last year, he was struck by bullets on the Rooseveltweg. He was on the island for performances and had just completed a show when the incident occurred at a street food vendor.
The prosecutors believe that the two accused pursued the victim for just over sixty minutes before striking. They are believed to have fired on the musician from their vehicle. There are indications that the victim was also armed.
The suspects are a 24-year-old man, Chris Z., and a 44-year-old, Churendy C. According to the prosecutor, it makes no difference who handled the weapon and who drove. The difference in the sentencing demands stems from the fact that the younger of the two was previously found guilty of attempted manslaughter. The older man is said to have been at the wheel.
In the courtroom, the two blamed each other. C. stated that his co-accused began firing for no reason whatsoever. Z. claimed instead that he was ill at home that evening and was nowhere near the victim. C. cast doubt on this and said that Z. made a telephone call after the shooting in which he reported that "the matter is settled".
Earlier this summer, Z. claimed that a third person had ordered the attack, for which both men would have worked. What exactly prompted the violence remained unclear even during the hearing.
The widow of the deceased artist, Niandy Windster-Losiabaar, spoke during the trial. She sought more than 50,000 euros in damages. She spoke of the loss of her husband and how their four children are now growing up without a father.
