Doctor charged with unauthorised autopsy on Curaçao
The Public Prosecutor's Office on Curaçao has brought criminal proceedings against a forensic doctor who performed an autopsy without the necessary authorisation. The man must answer for fraud and the falsification of documents.
The indictment alleges that the doctor performed an autopsy whilst he was not authorised to do so. By lacking the correct permits, he allegedly misled the judicial system. The Public Prosecutor's Office considers his actions punishable because he knew or should have known that he did not have the required documentation.
The falsification of documents and the misrepresentation of credentials one does not possess are considered serious crimes on Curaçao. The case will be heard in court shortly.
