A member of court staff in Curaçao has been held in custody on suspicion of a sexual crime. The arrest took place last Friday, according to Curacao.nu.
Because of the delicate circumstances, the Public Prosecutor's Office of Aruba has been assigned to oversee the investigation of the case. A house search at the person's residence was carried out under the authority of an examining magistrate from Sint-Maarten, who determined there was sufficient grounds for this measure.
The suspect was released on Monday 17 March. The criminal investigation is ongoing.
The Public Prosecutor's Office confirmed the arrest today but was unwilling to provide further details while the investigation is still in progress.
