Police: Details released of 17-year-old who escaped from Nicosia detention facilities

A 17-year-old teenager, originally from Syria, managed to escape from the detention facilities at the Omorfita station in Nicosia on Thursday afternoon. The news was first reported by Politis.

The youth was being held for investigation into cases involving theft of property from a person and unlawful possession of items. At the time of his escape, he was wearing dark short denim trousers and a black short-sleeved t-shirt. Physically, he is described as slim, with short black hair.

Immediately following the incident, the authorities activated a special crisis management centre. Operations to locate him are ongoing.
