On the night of Tuesday, police forces conducted large-scale operations across all provinces of the Republic of Cyprus. The aim was to prevent serious criminal acts, safeguard social peace, and strengthen public confidence in law enforcement authorities.

From these operations resulted the apprehension of 11 people, who are accused of numerous offences. Among others, those arrested face charges for drug possession, theft, execution of a European arrest warrant for financial fraud, altercations, carrying knives, assault causing bodily harm, disturbing the peace, and insulting public decency.

During the operations, 473 drivers and 201 passengers were subjected to checks. The traffic controls resulted in 304 referrals for road code violations. Additionally, 11 cases of traffic violations were placed under investigation.

Specifically, 84 drivers were referred for speeding. At the same time, 29 inspections of shops and other premises resulted in three additional reports. In the course of investigations, seven vehicles were seized by authorities.

A total of 53 breath tests were conducted, with one positive result. Two further drivers tested positive in preliminary examinations for psychotropic substances.

According to an official announcement, the targeted operations will continue daily, with enhanced police presence, selective checks, and immediate response, in the interest of protecting the public and maintaining order.
