A police officer aged 42 was arrested in Limassol on Wednesday, accused of attempting to interfere in judicial proceedings. The arrest was announced by the police on Thursday.
The officer in question is being investigated for offences allegedly committed between May and June 2026. The charges he faces include conspiracy to obstruct justice, witness tampering and intimidation.
The case is part of a broader investigation being conducted into suspected money laundering from illegal activities and organised crime. Police reported that the investigation began earlier in the year.
The previous month, officers had arrested a 45-year-old police officer, a 49-year-old man and a 50-year-old woman in Limassol on suspicion of money laundering and involvement in organised crime. During those operations, assets worth hundreds of thousands of euros had been seized.
The 42-year-old suspect is expected to be brought before court on Thursday for a detention hearing, whilst investigations continue.
