Two people were arrested and 339 road traffic offences were recorded during extensive police checks carried out at night across Cyprus. The operations aimed at crime prevention, maintaining public order and strengthening public confidence in safety.
According to Philenews, the two arrested individuals face charges for illegal possession of excise duty goods and for a domestic violence incident.
During the night, 473 vehicles were stopped for inspection and 568 people were examined. Additionally, 42 checks were carried out at premises, which resulted in three reports.
Of the 339 traffic offences, 117 concerned excessive speed. From 56 alcohol checks, two drivers tested positive. Three preliminary checks for drugs led to one positive indication. Ten vehicles were impounded.
Police forces continue operations daily with increased presence, targeted checks and immediate action to protect the public and maintain order.
