Eleven arrests and 304 charges in island-wide police operations
Police made 11 arrests and issued 304 charges to drivers during organised patrols in urban areas. A total of 473 vehicles were inspected and 674 people were identified.

On Tuesday evening, as part of extensive operations across the island, police forces proceeded with the arrest of eleven individuals. The operations included targeted patrols in areas of heightened interest within urban zones.
According to the authorities' announcement, those arrested face criminal charges for a number of offences. These include possession of substances, theft, execution of a European arrest warrant relating to financial misconduct, common assault and use of a knife, assault causing serious injury, disturbance of public peace and indecency.
In total, the services inspected 473 vehicles and proceeded with the identification of 674 people. In parallel, 304 charges were issued for traffic violations. Eighty-four of these concerned drivers exceeding the permitted speed limit. Seven vehicles were seized.
From traffic inspections, eleven cases emerged that are under investigation. Additionally, 53 checks were carried out for driving under the influence of alcohol, with one violation detected. Two people who were driving face charges for use of controlled substances following preliminary examinations.
Furthermore, 29 inspections were conducted in shops and other premises with the aim of combating illegality. Three charges resulted from this action.
The operations for intensified surveillance continue on a daily basis, with enhanced presence on the roads, targeted checks and immediate intervention, with the aim of safeguarding citizens' safety and maintaining order.
