The Bishop of Morphou Neophytos has turned to the police's Cyber Crime Fighting Service following the circulation of a fake video created through artificial intelligence that shows him giving medical advice on social media platforms.

In a statement issued by the Bishopric, it is stated that the material depicts Neophytos recommending treatments for joint conditions. The church authorities emphasised that the content is fabricated and has no scientific basis whatsoever.

According to Cyprus Mail, the Bishopric described the video as misleading artificial intelligence production and warned that it could cause confusion among the public, particularly among people seeking information about treatments and health problems.

Church representatives stated that the material contains "misleading content and false information" and does not reflect actual statements made by Bishop Neophytos. They added that the video was created without permission and is being distributed on the internet in a way that could deceive viewers.

The statement expressed concern that people dealing with health problems may be affected by the claims presented in the video. For this reason, the Bishopric called on the public not to trust the content and to avoid sharing it on social media or via messaging applications.

Describing the video as "fraud," the Bishopric called on anyone who encounters it online to ignore it and delete it immediately.
