Investigations are being conducted by Cypriot prosecuting authorities to locate a young man, 22 years old, a student of Bangladeshi origin, who went missing near Larnaca and is believed to have been abducted. According to philenews, the perpetrators contacted the child's father and demanded money in exchange for his release.

The young man was last seen yesterday afternoon at around 18:30, when he left the house where he was living in Oroklini to go to a factory in Kofinou for his new job. Since then, no one has heard from him.

The disappearance was reported in the early hours of Friday by his flatmate. Police are now attempting to track his mobile phone signal, whilst also checking security camera footage to determine which route he took. He had sent his location to friends before he went missing.

His father, who lives in Greece, received a telephone call and messages from an unknown person yesterday evening, demanding payment to have his son returned. The authorities are continuing their investigations.
