Former StB officer Václav Česák faces abuse of office charges at Pilsen court
The main hearing continued at Pilsen District Court in the case of former State Security officer Václav Česák. The man faces charges of abuse of power by a public official in connection with events from 1983.
According to the charges, Česák initiated the creation of a file on a worker at a Pilsen printing house at that time. This man was helping to organise underground events during that period. As a result of pressure from the State Security, the victim ultimately left Czechoslovakia.
During the main hearing, Česák's former supervisor testified. He told the court that he was not aware of anyone being persuaded to emigrate. The witness's testimony contributes to clarifying the conditions that existed at the time within the local State Security administration.
The trial proceedings continue with further evidence. The case concerns historical crimes from the communist regime period, whose investigation and court proceedings continue more than three decades after the Velvet Revolution.
