A 44-year-old man who was residing in the Czech Republic without any authorisation faces serious charges. On Sunday evening in Hradec Králové, he is alleged to have attacked a minor girl. Details of the case were published by the website Novinky.cz.
The incident took place in Sukov Gardens near the main railway station. The assailant first approached the victim asking for help finding a bus connection. When the girl complied but refused further contact, he became violent. He held her and forcibly dragged her into the bushes in the park, where he sexually assaulted her despite her resistance. The motive for the entire act was sexual abuse.
The victim resisted and cried for help. Passers-by responded to her calls and rushed to assist. The attacker attempted to flee, but witnesses caught him and handed him over to police officers. Officers arrested the man.
A breathalyser test showed the perpetrator had 1.05 parts per million of alcohol in his blood. A drug test was also positive. Investigators determined that the individual did not have a valid visa or any other reason for legal residence on Czech territory.
The state prosecutor charged the man with committing sexual assault on a minor. Given the age of the victim, if convicted he faces a sentence of two to eight years' imprisonment. The judge granted the request to remand the accused in custody pending trial.
