South Bohemian police have charged four women from Ukraine who repeatedly travelled to Czechia to receive humanitarian benefits. The Labour Office paid them 650,000 crowns despite them actually living outside the country.

South Bohemian criminal investigators have charged four women from Ukraine with committing fraud. The accused repeatedly travelled to the Czech Republic in order to obtain humanitarian allowances intended for refugees from the war zone. They provided false information to officials about their place of residence. In total, the South Bohemian Labour Office paid them 650,000 crowns, according to the Novinky.cz website.
According to police spokesperson Milan Bajcura, the women stated that they were staying on the territory of the Czech Republic, but an investigation revealed that their residence was fictitious only. In reality, they were demonstrably located outside the country, with the exception of the period necessary to process a temporary protection visa.
The cases are being handled in abbreviated preliminary proceedings. The accused can expect to be summoned to court within the next two weeks. They face up to three years' imprisonment for fraud.
