The panel of the Olomouc regional court on Friday confirmed a guilty plea agreement with thirty-year-old Jiří Račák from Hanušovic in the Šumperk region. The man admitted that for several years he supplied his surroundings with addictive substances. The court imposed a five-year prison sentence, which represents the lower limit of the statutory penalty.

The panel's chairperson, Eduard Ondrášek, explained the court's reasoning, stating that the sentence might appear too lenient if the accused had not confessed. "It is clear that the alleged acts occurred and were committed by the accused. This follows from his confession. A five-year sentence, which is at the very bottom of the basic penalty range, may seem lenient. And it certainly would be if he had not admitted his guilt. In such a case, a stricter sentence would be warranted. However, the accused significantly facilitated court proceedings, and therefore the sentence cannot be considered disproportionately lenient," the judge explained.

State prosecutor Jindřich Pazdera clarified that Račák ordered the substance CMC from abroad, which has almost identical effects to methamphetamine. The total quantity amounted to approximately 4.5 kilograms. He then resold this synthetic drug to other interested parties in the Šumperk area. This activity took place over the past three years.

In addition to distributing synthetic substances, the man also engaged in cannabis cultivation. He grew this plant at his residence for a total of nine years. Subsequently, he sold nearly three kilograms of dried matter to customers from the immediate vicinity. Overall, he faced up to ten years deprivation of liberty.
