Prague prosecutors have charged nine people linked to the Czech Casting brand with human trafficking, accusing them of coercing young women to perform in pornographic films.
The group faces sentences of up to 12 years' imprisonment, according to Aleš Cimbala, spokesman for the Prague City State Prosecutor's Office. The accused include project organisers, financial backers, photographers, cameramen and performers involved in the operation.
Between 2016 and 2019, the syndicate advertised positions for female models aged 18 and over. Detectives from the National Centre against Organised Crime (NCOZ) established that these job offers served solely as a cover for the production and distribution of pornographic material.
According to the NCOZ, hundreds of women fell victim to this scheme. Many of them subsequently developed psychological and physical difficulties that required medical intervention and long-term treatment.
The formal indictment runs to 629 pages and documents the abuse of 18 women who were subjected to escalating pressure from operation leaders. During the auditions, the organisers allegedly created a sense of urgency or downplayed the significance of the contracts they were signing, in order to obtain consent from the recruited women.
