Plzeň state prosecutor's office has filed charges against 21 people for the manufacture and distribution of addictive substances. The information was reported by Czech Television citing a statement from Jakub Kubias of the regional state prosecutor's office.

Of the charged individuals, only five form an organised group in the true sense of the word. These core members face the harshest sentences – up to twelve years in prison. The remaining accused were involved in the activities to varying degrees.

The investigation revealed that the head of the group coordinated the business from premises in one of Plzeň's hotels. During the raid, criminal investigators secured methamphetamine, chemicals and equipment used for manufacturing methamphetamine, cash and firearms.

The case illustrates how drug networks can conceal themselves behind the facades of ordinary accommodation facilities. A trial with the accused has not yet been scheduled.
