Two methamphetamine dealers arrested in Jihlava, one previously convicted
Jihlava police criminalists accused two men of methamphetamine distribution on Wednesday. One of them received a conditional sentence for a drug offence until February 2029.
Jihlava police accused two methamphetamine dealers following extensive operative operation
Jihlava criminalists from the general crime department arrested two men suspected of methamphetamine distribution on Tuesday, 13 October, according to tydenikpolicie.cz. The operation was preceded by extensive operative activity, on the basis of which evidence was gathered leading to the arrest of both suspects.
The first man, aged 40, was arrested by police shortly before noon at Jihlava's main railway station. During the arrest, officers seized over 9 grammes of the psychotropic substance mephedrone from him, which he surrendered voluntarily. He himself admitted that he is a long-term methamphetamine user who not only uses it but also sells it to other users. According to criminalists' findings, he distributed drugs from April to October of this year.
A few hours later, the second man was arrested on Strojírenská Street in Jihlava. He distributed methamphetamine at least from June to September in various locations in the Jihlava region. An aggravating circumstance is that he committed the criminal act despite having been validly sentenced by the District Court in Jihlava for a previous drug offence to a prison term of 12 months, conditionally suspended with a probationary period until February 2029.
"We accused the first man of committing the misdemeanour of unauthorised manufacture and other handling of narcotic or psychotropic substances. In the second case, it was a particularly serious crime, since the perpetrator had already been validly convicted of such an act," said Maj. Mgr. Jakub Pivoňka, head of the general crime department in Jihlava.
Both men received notification of the commencement of criminal proceedings on Wednesday. Criminalists are continuing to investigate the case.
