The Regional Court in Liberec has sentenced a 32-year-old man to eleven years in prison for causing the death of his acquaintance in Višňová in the Liberec district last year.

The Regional Court in Liberec on Thursday sentenced 32-year-old Roland K. to eleven years' imprisonment for causing the death of his acquaintance in Višňová in the Liberec district last year. The verdict was for grievous bodily harm resulting in death.
The man admitted his guilt in court. According to the charge, he beat his acquaintance and then left her outside in the winter period, where she died as a result of serious injury and exposure to the cold. During the hearing, he expressed remorse and stated that he wishes to undergo treatment.
The case attracted attention for the cruelty with which the perpetrator treated his acquaintance. The victim had no chance of survival after the man attacked her and subsequently refused to provide assistance or shelter.
