Mother deliberately drove into oncoming traffic and killed her daughter: agreed to 14 years imprisonment
A woman from the Plzeň region deliberately drove her car into oncoming traffic last October, killing her eight-year-old daughter. She has now agreed to a 14-year sentence for murder.

What initially appeared to be a routine traffic accident turned out to be an intentional act. Novinky.cz reports that a 36-year-old woman from the Plzeň region deliberately drove her Peugeot 206 into oncoming traffic on the main road from Plzeň to České Budějovice on 20 October last year at around 5.30 p.m. between Vlčtejn and Sečí. She collided head-on with an oncoming Peugeot Boxer. Her eight-year-old daughter was sitting unrestrained in the vehicle.
"The accused, with suicidal intent, moved into the left side of the roadway, where she collided head-on with an oncoming Peugeot Boxer," investigators concluded. The driver had approximately two units of alcohol in her blood and was also under the influence of methamphetamine.
Rescue workers transported four injured people to hospital — the accused, her daughter, the van driver and his passenger. The eight-year-old girl sustained the most severe injuries and doctors were unable to save her despite all efforts.
Police closed the case after several months and submitted the file to the public prosecutor with a recommendation to press charges for murder, attempted murder and endangering under the influence of a controlled substance. According to Novinky.cz, the accused K. Č. has now reached a plea agreement with the prosecutor. If the court approves it, she will spend 14 years in prison and lose her driving licence for three years. The regional court in Plzeň will hold a public hearing on the agreement on 20 July.
Novinky.cz also found that the accused woman had previously experienced mental health problems and had attempted suicide several times. Police delayed charges pending the results of an expert assessment, which confirmed that she was of sound mind at the time of the offence and was therefore criminally responsible for her actions.
