Justice Minister Jeroným Tejc (ANO) has filed a disciplinary complaint against a judge who in October last year entrusted a young girl to the care of her father, despite having knowledge of his addiction to narcotics. The man killed the three-year-old child in March of this year. The submission of the complaint was confirmed on Tuesday by the High Court in Prague to Czech Television.
The incident occurred on 3 March in the evening at a hostel near Žatec. A twenty-five-year-old man, reportedly the victim's father according to media reports, faces a prison sentence of up to twenty years or an exceptional sentence for murder. He is currently in custody.
Rescue workers arrived at the scene shortly after 21:00. After resuscitation was performed, a helicopter transported the toddler, born in 2023, to a hospital in Prague. Police announced the child's death the following day. By the end of March, investigators reported that according to preliminary results of toxicological testing, the perpetrator was under the influence of both alcohol and narcotics.
