Vice-mayor attacked by man on Jirkův town hall premises, police detain attacker
On Monday morning, a violent incident occurred at the municipal office in Jirkův in the Chomutov region. Vice-mayor Josef Šebek, a member of the Free Citizens party, was physically attacked in the office building. Following the altercation, he required treatment at a hospital.
Police arrived at the scene immediately after being notified and detained the attacker whilst still in the town hall premises. According to initial information, the aggressor did not use any bladed or firearm weapons.
Police are investigating the causes and further circumstances of the incident. Given that this involves an attack on a public official at his workplace, the consequences for the perpetrator could be serious.
