Detectives from Vysočina have solved a series of deliberately set fires that occurred since last year in the Jihlava and Pelhřimov region. The crimes are attributed to a twenty-four-year-old man, according to investigators.

In some cases, the damage reached millions of crowns. Police have not disclosed the specific number of fires or exact locations. The noteworthy aspect of the case is that the perpetrator participated in extinguishing the fire after starting it, thereby posing as a volunteer firefighter.

Police have charged the man with endangering the public through negligence and damage to other people's property. If convicted, he faces a prison sentence of up to eight years. The case is now under investigation by the state prosecutor.
