Shortly after release from prison back behind bars: man from Náchod region threatened family with knife

According to policie.gov.cz, criminal investigators in Náchod launched criminal proceedings on Friday, 4 September against a 40-year-old man charged with the offence of dangerous threatening. The man had been released from serving a custodial sentence for violent criminal activity just days earlier.

Over the course of several days, he repeatedly threatened his former partner, her current partner and their children with murder — both in person and in writing. In one instance, he came to see his former partner with a knife in his hand.

Given his extensive criminal history, with 17 records in the criminal register, both adults took his threats seriously and feared for their own safety and that of their children.

Following notification of the case, Náchod police located and detained the man within several hours. After carrying out procedural steps, he was placed in a police cell. The following day, he appeared before the court and heard the formal charge, which carries a sentence of up to three years in prison.

Criminal investigators submitted a motion to the state prosecutor for a proposal to remand the accused in custody. The judge of the District Court in Náchod accepted the proposal on 5 August 2026 in the morning. The accused man is currently being prosecuted in remand custody.
