Man faces 28 years for murdering partner in Mírov. He killed her three weeks after returning from prison
The state prosecutor is requesting 28 years for a 36-year-old repeat offender who stabbed his girlfriend last autumn in the Šumperk region. The crime occurred shortly after he left Mírov prison, where he had been serving a sentence for a previous murder.

The state prosecutor is proposing an exceptional sentence of 28 years in prison for a 36-year-old repeat offender. He killed his partner on 26 November last year in the village of Mírov in the Šumperk region. The Olomouc branch of the regional court will begin proceedings in the case next week on Tuesday, said spokesman Jaromír Parobek.
The accused confessed to the act but did not seek a plea bargain agreement. He attacked his partner after alcohol and an argument. According to Jan Lisický of the regional police, he attacked the woman from behind without her realising what was coming. His partner sustained serious injuries and died at the scene. The perpetrator then left the crime scene, wandered around the area and later contacted the police himself.
The state prosecutor characterises the act as murder committed in an exceptionally cruel manner. According to experts, the victim felt fear for her life during the attack and experienced extreme physical suffering. After the crime, the man cleaned himself, changed clothes and drove to Šumperk by taxi. When he failed to find accommodation, he drove around the area and ended up at a petrol station in Zábřeh. There he asked staff to call the police and declared that he was the murderer.
The man met the victim while serving his sentence at Mírov prison, where he worked outside the facility towards the end of his sentence. He was convicted less than three weeks after his conditional release.
He had previously been convicted of murder. In May 2014 in Frýdek-Místek, he killed an acquaintance six years his senior, inflicting 50 stab wounds on her, 17 of which were in the neck area. He used ten different knives and called the authorities himself. The Ostrava court sentenced him to 16.5 years in a high-security prison.
According to Šumperk state prosecutor Tomáš Horák, it was not possible to prevent the conditional release. The convicted man had served two-thirds of his sentence, had behaved without problems, completed rehabilitation and showed no deviant tendencies. Non-profit organisations vouched for him and he had secured accommodation and employment.
