Assaults on minors in Náměště na Hané: police launch investigation
Novinky.cz has reported on a series of violent attacks that have occurred in recent days in Náměště na Hané and its surroundings in the Olomouc region. In all cases, the incidents were said to have taken place in connection with social gatherings.
A fourteen-year-old boy was attacked by a group of assailants in the centre of the village whilst waiting at the roadside for a ride home from a gathering. The attackers beat him brutally and stamped on his head. At the same gathering, another minor was attacked, probably by the same perpetrators. Both injured parties had to seek medical treatment.
In response to the recurring incidents, speculation began to circulate about the involvement of an organised gang in the area around the village. When asked about this information, Náměště na Hané's mayor Diana Huňková (SNK) replied: "I have none."
Police spokesperson Jaroslav Herzán dismissed the speculation. "We are investigating the violence in Náměště na Hané. However, these are separate cases which are not connected to one another. The violence was always related to gatherings. One cannot say that it was the work of some organised gang," Herzán emphasised.
