Summer checks revealed alcohol among dozens of minors in Liberec region

The Police of the Czech Republic, as stated by policie.gov.cz, deployed more than 150 police officers during the summer holidays in the Liberec region for repeated operations as part of the nationwide safety measure ADAM – an acronym for ALCOHOL, DRUGS and YOUTH.

The purpose of the measure was to prevent the consumption of alcohol and the use of addictive substances by minors. Checks took place in all districts of the region and were also joined by approximately 70 employees of state and local authorities. The operation involved the Customs Administration of the Czech Republic, bodies responsible for socio-legal child protection, municipal police, trade licensing offices, hygiene stations and the Czech Trade Inspection Authority.

The Czech Trade Inspection Authority deployed underage operatives who verified whether establishments complied with the law when selling and serving alcohol.

The results of the checks confirmed the justification for the measure. Police checked 968 persons and 101 restaurants, clubs, entertainment establishments and other facilities. Alcohol consumption was proven in 59 persons aged 15 to 18 years. A total of 172 offences or administrative violations and one criminal offence in the drugs area were uncovered. In four cases, police secured narcotic and psychotropic substances; three persons were restricted in their personal liberty.

Operation ADAM 2026 formally concluded, however checks focused on alcohol, drugs and the protection of minors will continue within the scope of regular service. Their purpose is not only to penalise breaches of the law, but to protect the health and future of young people from the effects of addictive substances.
