An extensive search has been underway since the morning in Čelákovice near Prague for a man with a pistol. Fifty-five-year-old Petr Šimon is in an unfavourable mental state, and security services have urged citizens to exercise caution.

A man carrying a firearm was spotted this morning in the area around a vocational school in Čelákovice near Prague. Since then, security services have been intensively searching for fifty-five-year-old Petr Šimon, whose mental state is described as serious by the authorities.
The man was last seen shortly before 8 a.m. in Brandýs nad Labem. He was wearing a light-coloured jacket, a red cap, and was carrying luggage. Police have released his photograph and are asking the public for help in locating him.
Precautionary measures also affected the vocational school building in Čelákovice, which was empty at the time of the incident. Special units for responding to extraordinary situations occupied the school premises. The wanted man is reportedly moving in a blue Škoda Fabia automobile with registration number 5AB 7197.
The search has expanded to other areas. Police are investigating the possible movement of the man in Nový Bydžov and in the capital. As a precaution, they are also guarding buildings belonging to the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Interior. "We have not yet recorded his presence in the vicinity of these buildings. The measures serve primarily as prevention based on information about his possible movements," representatives of the security services stated shortly after 9 a.m.
Units from Prague and the Hradec Králové region have been involved in the operation. "We are continuously analysing all available information and findings. We do not yet know the exact location where the man is currently situated," police said.
According to spokesman Richard Hrdina, Prague police are coordinating their actions with colleagues from the Central Bohemia region and are increasing patrols in selected locations on their instructions.
The authorities are appealing to citizens to immediately contact the emergency line 158 if they spot the wanted man or his vehicle, and not to attempt to apprehend the man themselves.
