Police catch five drunk and drugged drivers after festival near Čejkovice
Officers from Dubňany monitored vehicles following an outdoor music event in the Hodonín district. Five drivers were unable to continue because they had driven under the influence.
Five drunk and drugged drivers caught by police after festival near Čejkovice
South Moravian police officers identified five motorists driving under the influence of narcotic substances during a three-day operation near the village of Čejkovice. The checks took place in connection with an outdoor music festival held at the end of June in a remote area far from residential buildings.
Officers from Dubňany examined over sixty vehicles and their occupants in total. They detected breaches of regulations in five of them. Three men drove with alcohol in their blood. One other refused to take a preliminary test for addictive substances. The last had a positive result on a test for psychotropic and narcotic substances, but refused to undergo specialist medical examination.
One of the monitored individuals attempted to flee from the patrol. When he spotted the uniformed officers, he began to reverse quickly. His escape ended on a field path surrounded by grain. A subsequent breath test revealed he had over half a per mille of alcohol in his system.
All five road users had their driving licences confiscated on the spot by police officers. The music event itself, which was originally kept secret, proceeded without any disturbance to public order or complaints about noise during night hours.
Driving a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs may be classified as an offence. However, if the measured values are higher or the circumstances more serious, the perpetrator faces criminal prosecution for endangering under the influence of addictive substances.
