A Brno court has sentenced an army soldier for attacking General Roman Hyťha in a nightclub. The verdict is final.

Brno City Court has issued a final verdict in the case of a young soldier who attacked a close associate of the chief of the general staff last September. The defendant received a three-year suspended sentence. The court has also banned him from driving for three years. He must also pay the injured man nearly half a million crowns.
The incident occurred in the early hours of 25–26 September 2025 in a nightclub on Kounicova Street in Brno. Roman Hyťha, then deputy chief of the general staff, became the target of a knife attack at the establishment. The assailant, who served with the 92nd Cyber Warfare Group, inflicted an injury to his left forearm. He then allegedly left the scene and drove a car whilst under the influence of alcohol.
State prosecutor Arne Nekula filed charges in May this year. The trial began in mid-June. The perpetrator originally faced up to ten years in prison for grievous bodily harm. The man admitted the offence and apologised. The assaulted general attended the main hearing.
The court ultimately found the soldier guilty of several offences. In addition to grievous bodily harm, these included disorderly conduct and endangering whilst under the influence of a narcotic substance. Neither side appealed the decision, making it final.
The attack significantly affected Hyťha's professional career. According to findings by the Aktuálně.cz editorial office, his security clearance lapsed, denying him access to sensitive information. He was transferred from the defence leadership to a department for war veterans. Prior to the incident, he had been responsible for the strategy of integrating drones into Czech armed forces equipment.
The army temporarily relieved the man of his duties in March. General Staff spokesperson Zdeňka Socharňa Košvancová stated that he is receiving only a salary according to his rank. His future in uniform depends on the outcome of the legal proceedings.
