Detectives from the Vysočina region have concluded their investigation into a large-scale fraud involving investments in whisky barrels and have recommended to the state prosecutor that entrepreneur Ondřej Chládek be prosecuted. The case concerns more than 100 million crowns that customers invested in the purchase and storage of alcohol from Třebíč. A total of 716 people from across the country have approached police.

The investigation focused on a business model in which investors purchased stakes in whisky barrels. Suspicions arose from the fact that the promised returns did not materialise and clients lost their funds. Chládek faces charges of fraudulent conduct.

Police have now prepared case materials for the state prosecutor's office. The scope of the case is extraordinary – the number of victims exceeds seven hundred and the total damages amount to hundreds of millions of crowns.
