A fifty-four-year-old man from Olomouc turned to police on Saturday, 28 June, with a report of fraud. This occurred after he lost 5.5 million crowns.

It all began at the end of April, when the man made contact with a woman on the dating application Tinder. He gradually built trust with her. After some time, the woman began persuading him to invest in cryptocurrencies. She recommended investment platforms to him, which later proved to be fraudulent.

The man invested the money, but eventually discovered that he had lost his funds. Only then did it become clear to him that he had become a victim of fraud, and he decided to report the entire matter to Olomouc police.

Police are investigating the case. Similar frauds via dating applications and social networks have been increasing in recent times. Scammers create false profiles, establish contact, and gradually persuade victims to make financial investments, which in reality result in the loss of money.
