Police qualify taxi driver shooting in Poleradice as attempted murder
On Sunday evening, a shooting occurred in Poleradice in Prague-East in which a taxi driver shot his customer. Police officers responded to the incident shortly before 8:30 p.m. following several calls to the emergency line 158, when residents reported hearing gunshots.
According to the investigation so far, a verbal dispute first erupted between the driver and two passengers after they had exited the vehicle. Subsequently, the taxi driver used a legally held firearm and with a single shot seriously wounded one of the men. The shooting victim was taken to hospital, where he remains hospitalised.
Detectives have reclassified the initial case as the criminal offence of murder in the stage of attempt. If convicted, the accused faces a prison sentence ranging from three to ten years. The investigation is ongoing with the man at liberty.
"We are continuing to investigate all the circumstances and facts that led to the incident," said Vlasta Suchánková, spokesperson for the Central Bohemian Police.
