Investigators are appealing to the public for any further potential victims to come forward in the case of sixty-six-year-old paediatric neurosurgeon Boris Živný. The man faces accusations before a court in the capital city of rape, sexual abuse and sexual coercion, with his alleged victims being minor boys. If found guilty, he faces a sentence of deprivation of liberty of up to twelve years.
According to police spokeswoman Vlastá Suchánková, since May, when the main trial began, further individuals who feel harmed by this doctor's conduct have begun approaching criminal investigators. Investigators believe the total number of victims could reach dozens.
"It is not ruled out that these individuals are already adults. Criminal investigators are appealing to everyone who feels harmed by this man's conduct and has not yet contacted police to get in touch with them," Suchánková said. Potential witnesses can report to telephone number 607 059 902.
The spokeswoman promised that police would maintain absolute discretion and proceed with maximum sensitivity and professionalism. "For the future lives of those harmed in this way, it is certainly important not to suppress the trauma experienced," she added.
The state prosecutor filed charges in January of this year. During the May court hearing, the accused rejected all charges, arguing that he had acted professionally in his practice in Jesenice.
