Alternative therapy in Brno under police scrutiny: woman left with bruises
Brno police have launched an investigation into a case in which a fifty-two-year-old woman sustained physical injuries during a session at an organisation offering alternative therapy for people with mental health difficulties. As reported on Thursday by zdravotnickydenik.cz, citing police spokeswoman Andrea Cejnková, criminal investigators are examining the case on suspicion of a criminal offence.
"The complainant stated that she was forced to assume certain positions and was subsequently subjected to physical force and various objects," Cejnková was quoted as saying from the police website. The treatment was presented as part of the therapeutic process. The woman was left with bruises following the session.
Criminal investigators are focusing on the course of the service provided, the nature of the individual procedures, and particularly on whether clients were sufficiently informed in advance about the process and whether they gave free and informed consent.
Police are now seeking other individuals who participated in similar therapeutic sessions in the past. "We ask individuals who have information significant for criminal proceedings regarding their course to contact police via the emergency line 158 or at the nearest police station," Cejnková said.
