A large-scale enforcement operation targeting distributors of narcotic and psychoactive substances is underway in the region. Criminal investigators in Zlín actively participated in a nationwide operation that is coordinating enforcement action across all regions.
With the arrival of summer holidays, the risk increases that minors will experiment with banned substances. Free time, group gatherings and the desire for new experiences can lead to risky behaviour. Security forces therefore focused attention on places where problematic goods could be found.
Specialised detectives, together with other law enforcement officers, conducted massive inspections of entities suspected of distributing narcotic substances in the area. They also collaborated with inspectors monitoring compliance with safety and hygiene standards. During the operation, over forty establishments were checked where products endangering consumer health, particularly that of young people, could have been found.
Following cases of poisoning involving minors, investigators conducted a house search this week at the headquarters of one company, subsequently inspecting its business premises and nine self-service vending machines. The raids took place in parallel across three regions – Zlín, Olomouc and South Moravian. A total of more than 3,500 items of goods were seized, which will undergo laboratory analysis to detect banned substances.
A spokesperson for the security force emphasised that the priority is not only criminal prosecution, but above all prevention of situations with serious health consequences. "We encounter cases where young people end up under medical supervision after consuming these substances. We strongly warn against experimenting with unknown substances. The effects can be immediate, unpredictable and life-threatening. The summer period should be safe, not risky," she said.
