Investigators have accused eight people and seven companies in connection with alleged manipulation of public contracts at the town hall of municipal district VI in Pardubice. The criminal proceedings relate to suspicions of unfair practices in tender procedures, abuse of official authority, bribery and acceptance of bribes.
The police published information about the launch of the investigation on their profile on social network X. However, they refused to disclose more specific circumstances of the case. According to available information, the case is linked to a raid last April, when detectives entered the building of the district VI town hall. At that time, there was speculation about the involvement of office secretary Aleš Herák, who stated after the raid that all employees had signed a confidentiality agreement.
District mayor Petr Králíček confirmed only cooperation with the police and referred to the obligation to maintain confidentiality. "I have no idea what the problem could be. The police did not clarify what this is about," Králíček said in April 2025.
The case at the district VI town hall is not unique in Pardubice. In January this year, the National Centre Against Organised Crime accused seven people and six companies in connection with tender manipulation at the Pardubice municipal authority. Investigators in this case uncovered at least 217 affected contracts with a total value of approximately 61 million crowns. The main organisers face sentences of up to ten years' imprisonment.
