An anonymous caller reported an explosive device at the labour office branch on Novodvorská street in the Lhotka district of Prague on Wednesday. Police immediately initiated an operation and evacuated the building, according to the iDNES.cz server.
In addition to police officers, firefighters and a bomb disposal expert arrived at the scene to investigate the reported threat. The scope of the evacuation and the number of people present have not yet been clarified.
Cases of false bomb alerts in the Czech Republic have increased in recent times. Police must properly investigate each such report, which represents a significant deployment of human and material resources. If the threat proves to be unfounded, the perpetrators face criminal prosecution for spreading a false alarm.
